Tanning Tip: shave the night before
One of the most important things for the overall impact and longevity of your tan is to prep your skin properly. There are, of course, tried and tested techniques like exfoliating, hydrating dry patches and even dry brushing. But there's one thing that's rarely spoken of and just so happens to be crucial in applying an even, streak-free natural looking tan: carrying out your hair removal the night before.
We all do it. Whether shaving, waxing or using hair removal cream, there's hair on some parts of our bodies that we'd rather just wasn't there. From legs, to under-arms and anywhere between, it's best to carry out your pre-tan-scaping the night before you apply your product. This gives your pores time to close, any minor hick-ups to heal (it happens to the best of us) and for any inflammation to go down.
When your skin is smooth, calm and taught, your tan will glide on perfectly, giving you a beautiful, natural bronze. You don't want product grabbing to patches of irritated skin or sitting in open pores! If you are strapped for time and have to shave then and there you could opt for running some very cold water over your body in the shower before you tan, but if you can, schedule it in on the eve of your tan. Your skin and your healthy glow will thank you.
