Beauty: Precious Stones
While we like to keep it natural most of the time, a little colour here can be fun, and rich jewel colours work really well with a tan. We have put together the colours and products we love to help you amp up the neutrals.
Ruby + Garnet
These rich reds really can go anywhere, cheeks, eyes, nails and lips. We love a dark intense lip with a cleaner make up look and while we aren't big believers in having to pick between lips or eyes there is something powerful yet youthful about a deep lip and naked eyes. Another look we love is the smokey ruby eye, you can keep the pigment tight around the under lid or dust lightly around the whole eye, just make sure you use a primer and concealer to avoid looking tired or overly red. You can even mix the colour with a light matte brown to soften the look and it works well if black is a little too intense for you. We would also like to add that a deep red nail polish is a beauty essential.
Saphire + Emerald
Deep blues and greens can be a little scary and have way too many 80s references attached to them but are making a subtle comeback. We recommend keeping these colours to an eyeliner, mascara or nail polish. Create a thin line close to the top lashes for a delicate pop of colour, one lick of coloured mascara on the ends of the lash can be just enough and the various shades of navy, cobalt or fern green are nice alternatives.
