Beauty Tip: Travelling With A Tan
Make sure your skin is prepared for the trip. One or two weeks leading up to your travels really work on making your skin hydrated and smooth. Exfoliate everyday or every second day if you feel to remove any dead skin cells or dry areas. Also lather yourself in moisturiser twice a day from head to toe after you shower. The smoother and more hydrated your skin is the more likely it will absorb the tan evenly and keep it for your trip. It will also help you fight the dehydrating the exhausting environmental factors of travelling for long periods of time.
Two: The Night Before
Apply The Base Instant Tan Mousse the night before your trip. Your skin will have an amazing texture from your fortnightly prep and be ready to absorb the tan. Apply as normal (see our step by step guide here).
Three: Getting There
It’s important to keep your skin hydrated while you travel. Moisturise as often as possible especially on long haul flights. The air-conditioning, exhaustion and general travel environment can have a drying and stressful effect on the skin so it’s important to balance this out by applying moisturiser every couple of hours.
Four: On Vay-Cay
When you are on holidays it can be hard to think about doing anything other then relaxing but if you can moisturise as normal and exfoliate your skin every three to four days you will benefit. Pick a sunscreen that is hydrating and glides on the skin to avoid unnecessary rubbing.
Hanging in water for long periods of time will certainly excel the natural exfoliation process of your skin, and therefore removing your tan but short swims won't have any immediate effect. If you can leave yourself to air-dry then do, rubbing and using a towel is very exfoliating and will cause your tan to come off with the dead skin cells you're removing. Try a softer cotton or linen towel as an alternative.
Five: Top Up
You can simply re-apply the tan while away, it’s a very easy process. But you can also choose to apply the gradual tanning lotion to keep a constant glow and top-up your tan. The wash off bronzing gel is also another great and simple way to keep you glowing if you don't have the time to do a full instant tan.
